The new Pokemon Snap looks absolutely magical - in fact, let us dare to say it, it looks legendary. This is very appropriate, because this new advertisement of thirty-twoths confirmed that players will have the chance to dive underwater and take photos of Johto Legendary Lugia in his natural habitat. This opens a ton of new possibilities, including a host of other legendary who could appear and the possibility of interacting them with their environments. Can you dive into a deep water trench and see Kyogre play with Sharpedos? Crawl in a volcano to see Groudon taking a nap, surrounded by slugma? We don't know, but we are really looking forward to knowing it.
For those of you who have not grown up with Pokemon Gold, Silver and Crystal - or who have not looked at Pokemon: The Movie 2000: The Power of One - Lugia is a legendary psychic / flying Pokémon that lives deep under the sea. Think about it as a cross between a swan, a penguin and a magic bird-dinosaur. Its counterpart is ho-oh, the rainbow bird with fire / flight that Ash has seen in the very first episode of the anime, which looks a bit like a bird of oversized paradise and lives above the clouds. Ho-Oh has not yet been seen in New Pokemon Snap marketing, but we would absolutely like to see it in action.
There is always something extraordinary to see legendary Pokémon behaving like ordinary Pokémon. From Mew playing with his bubbles and Mewtwo looking at the earth from space to Latias playing in the water and Celebi wandering happily between the trees, looking at these divine beings in their natural state can be really breathtaking. If there is something we want to see from New Pokemon Snap, it is the chance to follow these legends in their daily life.
Who knows, perhaps we can attract arceus with snacks and take photos of the creative divinity of the Pokémon world eating poffins. It would be pretty cool.
The new Snap Pokémon is released on April 30 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
