Pokémon (Japanese: ポケモン, Hepburn: Pokémon), abbreviated from the Japanese title of Pocket Monsters (ポケットモンスター, Poketto Monsutā) and currently advertised in English as Pokémon the Collection, is a Japanese anime television series, component of The Pokémon Business s Pokémon media franchise business, which began broadcast in Japan on TV Tokyo in April 1997. The anime franchise business includes seven consecutive collection in Japan, each based on a primary installment of the Pokémon video game series. In the worldwide broadcasts, these series are divided across 24 tv periods, with the 24th season currently streaming on Netflix in the USA (with extra episodes to be launched quarterly).
