Multiplayer tests are not rare in the game industry - Halo: Infinite has done something similar, it's not so long ago. From now on, players wishing anticipated access to Call of Duty: Vanguard can make this wish, but only if they play on PlayStation consoles.
The test begins soon - on August 27th. Playstation 4 or 5 console owners will definitely enjoy this news, but as you can expect, the other players are not so happy.

These are not all bad news, at least. Players on other platforms can always participate in the usual hype season: find nice changes, discuss them, to share them, etc. But it is finally a mediocre experience, while they could have a practical experience of the real deal.
Given the surrounding circumstances, Call of Duty: Vanguard did not really need a controversy like this. They are already trying to stand out from the name of activism, for reasons that become obvious if you really think about it.
Tweet responses above should be sufficient proof - responses are not particularly positive, even if the news of a playable road test are generally a reason for celebration. The two points above are mentioned several times. Even in the face of good news, Activision does not seem to be able to escape past problems.
At the very least, a global multiplayer revelation will be posted on September 7 - so exclusivity will not last forever. But lose these first days is not trivial. This is where all the discovery is, the media threshing, the sense of adventure. Make these special days an exclusive thing will certainly leave ego boreris.
