The Pokémon Company has just announced the closure until new order of 21 Japanese shops from next Saturday. These closures concern 14 Pokémon Centers and 7 Pokémon Stores across the Japanese archipelago. And that's not all, The Pokémon cafes of Tokyo and Osaka as well as the Pikachu Sweets Shop from Tokyo will also close in the same way . Officially, and without surprise, it is the explosion of CVIV-19 cases in Japan which is cited as a reason for this measure at least drastic.
The complete list of the stores concerned is:
- Pokémon Centers: Sapporo, Tohoku, Tokyo DX, Mega Tokyo, Shibuya, Skytree Town, Tokyo Bay, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka DX, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka.
- Pokémon Stores: Shin Chitose Airport, Tokyo Station, Narita Airport, Gotemba, Outlet Kisarazu, Kansai Airport and Okinawa Rycom.
Note that this is a final closing for the Pokémon Store from Kansai Airport (closing that had been announced previously).
How long ?
Unless there is a new evolution of the situation, in one direction and the other, only four Pokémon shops remain open for the moment: the Pokémon Center of Kanazawa and the Pokémon Blinds of Ehime, Oita and Okayama Prefecture (the latter will definitely close on August 31 too). If these signs do not close on Saturday, it is because the state of emergency has not been declared in their region by the Japanese government.
Unofficially, the Soraenws24 website believes that the decision of this almost generalized closure was motivated by the announcement last Sunday that an employee of the Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo of Ikebukuro had contracted the CVIV-19, as well as by the decision of the Government Yoshihide Suga to extend emergency state to eight additional prefectures.
In Japan, the increase in CVIV-19 cases and the slow relative of the vaccine campaign are added closure of foreign tourists who do not end. The optimal conditions are therefore not met to allow the Pokémon stores to function properly and securely (for their customers as well as for their staff).
What do you think of this situation? What do you say about the Japanese strategy to the crisis? Do you intend to go to Japan once the country will open to tourists again? Have you ever attended one of these institutions? If so, what did you think? Tell us everything in the comments below.
